Toru Yamanaka in London

I'll be going along to this at the I.C.A. in London on 4th and/or 5th of March. If anyone wants to meet up there, let's have a drink!

Toru's also doing this which involves many more people! We'll be going along on the 12th March.

Toru and I made many tracks together which I hope will be released one day as an album. He's a great engineer and musician and his shows are well worth seeing. I've known him since 1988 when he was a founder member of the Dumb Type performance art group.

Bike racing meditation music

I've been asked by Jorge of Renegade Exhausts (motorcycle exhaust experts) to provide some music for pre-race meditation sessions. As I have tracks from the unreleased S.E.T.I. 'Station' album to hand, I've put together a half hour cd of peaceful material for them to listen to while they psych themselves up. They have a racing team site which can be viewed here but don't expect any electronic music links!

Live DVD/Video preparation

I've begun trying out ideas for some footage to use when I play live in Germany and Poland later this year. In particular, the Polish festival organiser has asked me for some DVD material to show on Polish TV to advertise the festival. Here are two stills from last night's renders.

Metasynth 4

Well, we've been waiting for years for this to arrive (perhaps too impatiently), and now it is upon us. It was more than worth the wait and blows everything else out of the water as far as I'm concerned. The biggest leap for me is that we can now preview sounds in stereo in realtime and adjust things like displacement maps and hear the resuls as we're tweaking. MS4 also includes a sequencer (formerly Xx, I believe), so this will now become my weapon of choice for live use. The program is so deep, that it'll take months to explore every avenue and this may be the inspiration I've been waiting for for so long. I shall definitely be putting this to use for the forthcoming s.e.t.i. surround project....well done U&I Software :-)
